Before another busy weekend of weddings begins, I wanted to get up a few of my favorites from Amanda and Rob’s wedding. Many more to come but for now, here are a couple:
There’s something about brick walls, and simple backgrounds that I really love. These next two photos are my favorites of the day:

I will always remember Steve and Courtney’s wedding as the wedding with the gigantic bridal party. Counting the bride and groom, this bridal party hit a record 30 people. It was a blast photographing this wedding, but also the most challenging I have ever worked. Fitting 30 people in a camera frame, and keeping them all in one spot long enough to fire off a couple frames, all the while keeping my fingers crossed that nobody makes a weird face or blinks is most def a tricky situation. Props to Courtney, she put together an excellent time line and everything managed to go smoothly and on time.
My day with them started normally with makeup and mimosa’s with the bride and bridesmaids:
After spending an hour with the bridesmaids, I drove down the street to Tim’s house where the guys were getting ready. Tim has the ultimate party ready basement. I decided I want a basement just like Tim’s. Guys get ready for weddings….. ummm…….a little differently then girls… I arrived just in time to catch a quick game of beer pong:
There’s only so many beer pong photos one can capture, so I went back to Courtney’s just in time to photograph her getting into her dress and then a quick toast to the bride before heading off to the church.
I arrived at the church to find that the guys had all gotten dressed and cleaned up quite nicely
After the ceremony, pictures in the church for about 30 minutes, then off to Fern Hill where we spent a little time photographing the bridal party on the golf course.

Rich and Nicole met at The Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens, so we started off their engagement session with a few photos in front of the theatre.
After that, we spent some time walking around downtown Mt. Clemens and shot a few more:
Eli and Lori picked the perfect location for their engagement pictures. We did them at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. This spot is perfect because its got the outdoor feel but in an indoor location, so no chance for a rain out. Tons of light coming though the windows + no lack of plants, flowers and trees makes for a perfect photo location. Lori and Eli are so good together, I had a blast photographing them. Here are a few from the session:

What a great wedding for a couple that are just perfect for each other! It took me a whole day just to select photos for this blog post, because there are so many that I love.
I started the day out at Jordonna’s parents house photographing the girls getting ready. They had awesome light coming through the windows in the living room, I had a great time messing around with different camera settings to create funky light effects. Here’s one:

Second week of bringing Katherine (the new assistant) with me, and it paid off BIG TIME. My plan during the ceremony was to run around like I normally do and cover all angles myself. I gave her a camera to use and told her to stand in a corner of the room facing the bride and groom. Well….the ceremony was PACKED with guests. There were so many guests they ran out of seats. So the guests started lining up in the isles and I couldn’t get through to take pictures. Katherine though, was boxed into the perfect spot and she did an AWESOME job. Lesson learned: 2nd photographer at weddings = ESSENTIAL. She gets the photo credit for the next 2:
The reception was the bomb…I’ve never seen so many people on a dance floor in my life. The dance floor was completely packed like in the following picture the entire night….oh, plus the fried pork chops were delicious. I ate 2! LOL.

Wedding season has officially began, and I’ve been shooting like crazy! I’m so lucky to have such fun and easy going clients. Rob and Bridgid’s wedding April 18th officially kicked off the “wedding season” which for me generally runs mid-April through the end of October. They were married at the gorgeous St. Hugo Church in W. Bloomfield and the reception followed at Vladimir’s in Farmington. Here are a few images from their day:
Bridgid and Rob’s wedding was also the first wedding I worked with my new assistant, Katherine. I’ve recently been experimenting with using off-camera flash but its way too hard to get everything setup and the lighting equipment moved around quick enough by myself so I had to bring in somebody else to help out. I’m so happy with the progress made on Rob and Bridgid’s church family photos! They are still not exactley where I want them to be, but MUCH improvement has been made. I’ll post some examples later, but first I gotta get back to finishing up everybody’s wedding photos.
