Eli and Lori picked the perfect location for their engagement pictures. We did them at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago. This spot is perfect because its got the outdoor feel but in an indoor location, so no chance for a rain out. Tons of light coming though the windows + no lack of plants, flowers and trees makes for a perfect photo location. Lori and Eli are so good together, I had a blast photographing them. Here are a few from the session:

Lori: “Look Eli, here’s the flowers we are using for our wedding!!”

Can’t wait for Eli and Lori’s wedding in September!
Here’s a few from Jon and Cassie’s engagement session:

In between shooting PrimeSport’s Final Four events, I squeezed in an engagement session with Lisa and Mike on Sunday. I had some fun playing around with the color a little more than I normally do, and I’m pretty happy with the way they came out….I hope Mike and Lisa dig a couple of them! Here are a few images from the session:

Computer problems hit me all at once, so I feel really bad that its taken me awhile to get Amanda and Rob’s engagement session photos uploaded. After spending the week reformating hard drives, fighting with windows and then re-installing all my software, I finally found some time today to get a few done for them:

They had a cold, snowy day but everything went really smooth…they even got in a little snowball fight:
Rob hits Amanda with a good one here:

But Amanda retaliates here and nails Rob:

Can’t wait for the wedding!

It’s always been a dream of mine to move to Chicago. Me and my high school best friend drove there for my 18th birthday and we spent the whole car ride talking about how we were both going to make the move after college. She got married to a Michigan guy, and my DJ business took off, so both of us are still stuck in the “D”. When I started doing photography a few years ago, it occurred to me that since all of my camera equipment can fit in a backpack, I could work anywhere I wanted….I could just fly to wherever I needed to go. 10 years later, that moving to Chicago dream is looking like it could actually happen. This is awesome! In 2009, my goal is to have at least 1 wedding booked per month in Chicago. Last week, I went there to meet with several couples who are interested in hiring me for their 2009 weddings, and I also was able to fit in a couple of engagement sessions.
Carrie and Brett met at Loyola University, and are getting married this coming November. They asked me to meet them at a bar, and I kinda thought that was just a spot they figured we could meet at, chat a little bit and then head off to do their photos. Turns out they actually wanted their photos taken in the bar…..sweet! I’ve never done engagement photos in a bar before, sounds like a challenge!
Special thanks to the bartender at Bruno and Tim’s Lounge for letting me snap a few::
These next two are my favorite:
I usually have a couple ideas for photo sessions before the clients even show up. I check out the area I will be shooting in and try to plan ahead a little bit. The bar was a total surprise, and I had not a thing planned, and last minute ideas can be hit or miss… so I thought it would be best to try and talk Brett and Carrie into walking down to the beach for a couple shots (just in case they didn’t like the photos of themselves drinking beers and making out behind the bathroom doors).
