My good friend DJ Joey A has been busy recording a few new tracks, and has just released a new song! The new single is called “Come Over” and you can check it out on itunes (just search for DJ Joey A), or on Joey’s myspace page located here: http://www.myspace.com/djjoeya

Joey wanted to get some photos made for his upcoming album and promotional material, so we went out the other day and had a little fun. I really wanted to play around with some black & white portrait stuff, so we started with that:

Next we headed out to Planet Rock Music to say hi to our friend Marvin, and get some photos outside. Joey does alot of promotional work for Planet Rock, so he thought it would be cool to incorporate the store in a few shots.

So I just got back from attending the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention and trade show that happens in Las Vegas every year. I am totally exhausted but it was well worth it – I learned so much and met so many great photographers from all over the country. They have classes available in areas like posing, lighting, journalism, business, etc that were great and very helpful plus then there’s the trade show which is HUGE. I was a little overwhelmed but it was great to be able to try out some of the equipment I want to buy and check out the latest albums available that I can order for my clients.

On the last day, I tagged along with my two new friends Doug Phillips and Kyle Burnell on a little photo side excursion out to the desert. We left really early to catch the sun rising and Doug & Kyle planned it perfectly so the sun was setting at our last destination. It was a great opportunity to practice my landscape photography, and experiment with the changing light throughout the day.

I’m still working on the ton of pictures I took, but below are a few quick ones from the trip:

This first one is a picture of me practicing with lens flare. I really like the lens flare effect, but I’d been having some problems getting it just right during portrait sessions. Doug had disappeared into the desert and I was bored so I put my camera on a tripod and took about 100 pictures of me to try and get the effect just right. Here’s one a little over-done, but I think I got the hang of it!

This is my favorite from the day. We stopped to eat in this tiny little town and saw this car sitting in the parking lot, Doug went and stood by it and I took this shot:
